Here is a classic Middle Eastern household recipe of Mujadara.
Instructions:
Boil the lentils in a pot, strain, and keep it aside. Prepare the Tahini sauce by adding minced garlic, lemon juice, and salt to tahini. Dilute this mixture with water and stir. Pour some sunflower oil into a pan, and add the chopped onions to caramelize them. In another pot, pour some olive oil, put the other half of chopped onions, and saute until transparent. Add rice and the cooked lentils to this mixture. Pour in some water and bring to boil. While it boils, season it with salt, seven spices, cumin, and black pepper. Cook until water evaporates. On a plate, make a bed of the lentil rice, sprinkle fried onion on top, and serve with tahini sauce on the side.
Garnish the rice with parsley for a colorful touch!
